Starbucks‘ secret menu keeps getting more and more, well, not secret. The Starbucks Pink Drink, a staple for those with a sweet tooth and a passion for Instagramming and millennial pink items, has been on the coffee chain’s secret menu since June 2016. Starting today, the Pink Drink will have a permanent spot on Starbucks menus at participating stores across the U.S.
For those unfamiliar with it, the secret menu is an unwritten list of drinks you can request from your barista. The Starbucks Pink Drink is made with the brand’s Strawberry Acai Refreshers drink (which includes a touch of passion fruit and acai), coconut milk, ice, and a scoop of real strawberries. It was a not-so-secret favorite off the unofficial menu, as the combination of ingredients results in a perfectly pink beverage that honestly looks incredible on Instagram.
“We’re thrilled that the beloved Pink Drink is joining the Starbucks menu, just in time for the warmer spring months,” said Vivienne Long, Starbucks vice president, U.S. Retail Beverages, in a press release. “This delicious and refreshing drink is a celebration of our customers’ and baristas’ creativity and is just one of the 170,000 ways we craft beverages to meet each person’s unique taste preferences.”
The Pink Drink is one of several colorful iced beverages that are known among fans as secret menu staples. Filling out the rainbow, the summer of 2016 also brought us the Purple Drink, the Orange Drink, and the Blue and Green Drinks. Going off the separate popularities of the Pink Drink and a matcha-flavored beverage (matcha consists of finely ground green tea leaves), Starbucks fans started ordering the Ombré Pink and Green Drink, which uses ingredients similar to the pink drink’s mixed with matcha powder to give it an ombré hue.
This also is not the first time Starbucks has upgraded a fan-favorite drink from the secret menu to the legit one. Last month, the Medicine Ball, a tea known for soothing a sore throats, made the same transition.
